As per the QS World University Rankings, RMIT is positioned as a five star college in the regions of: examination, employability, instructing, offices, internationalization, advancement, engagement, specialization.

In 2014, as indicated by the QS World University Rankings, RMIT Uacniversity was positioned 51-100 on the planet in the subjects of: bookkeeping and fund, software engiacneering and data frameworks, building - electrical and electronic, and designing - mechanical.

In 2009, RMIT was positioned as the top entrepreneurial college in Australia (twelfth in the World)—as indicated by the GSEA's Top Entrepreneurial Universities List, and, in 2010, as the top promoting college of the decade in Australia (fifth in the World)—agreeing the YoungGuns International Awards.

In 2011, RMIT was perceived by Australian Skeptics with a Bent Spoon Award for their educating of Chinese, chiropractic, and vitality drugs - all of which need experimental thoroughness. The prize was honored amid the national tradition of Australian Skeptics in Sydney.

RMIT University is differentiated into two divisions: the Higher Education Division and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Division. The divisions are in charge of RMIT's 23 scholarly schools (20 advanced education schools including a graduate/proficient school and three TAFE schools).
